The calculators on this site exist to help you see the math most creator-tools companies hide. They are educational estimates, not tax, legal, financial, or investment advice. Nothing you see here should be relied on as professional counsel.
What the calculators actually are
They are transparent models — every assumption is printed on the page, every formula is in the open, and the underlying logic is published under the company GitHub account. If a number feels wrong, you can and should argue with the math. That's the whole point.
What they are not
- They are not a substitute for a certified tax professional, a CPA, an enrolled agent, an attorney, or a licensed financial advisor.
- They do not account for your specific situation (deductions, credits, state quirks, multi-jurisdictional income, business structure, entity elections, prior-year carryovers, etc.).
- They do not include all possible revenue streams, fees, or tax line items — just the most common ones for most creators.
- They are not audited and have not been reviewed by a licensed tax professional.
Specific numbers and their sources
- US federal tax brackets and standard deductions are modeled on 2025 IRS figures. These change annually. If the current tax year is different, treat the output as a near-approximation.
- Self-employment tax is modeled at 15.3% on 92.35% of net earnings, with the Social Security wage base capped at $176,100 for 2025 and the additional Medicare surtax applied above $200,000.
- Platform revenue shares (YouTube 55/45, Patreon ~92/8, Substack ~90/10, Twitch 50/50, etc.) reflect publicly stated terms as of the last site update. Platforms change these terms unilaterally and without notice.
- CPM, RPM, and engagement figures are industry estimates based on public reporting, not your specific channel data.
- Brand deal rates are modeled on a defensible framework but vary enormously by brand budget, negotiation, and market timing. Use the ranges, not the point estimates.
When to talk to a professional
Our flat rule: if money moves or a form gets filed, talk to a real one.
- Before filing taxes — work with a CPA or enrolled agent. Our estimates are not a tax return.
- Before incorporating — our S-corp check is a threshold signal, not a recommendation. Talk to a CPA and attorney about entity choice for your situation.
- Before signing a brand deal — an entertainment or marketing attorney should review usage rights, exclusivity, morals clauses, and termination terms. Our rate engine prices deliverables, not contract risk.
- Before leaving your job — talk to a financial planner. Our leap calculator models cash flow, not career risk.
